What is 1K epoxy primer spray?
Troton epoxy primer dries quickly and gives excellent rust protection. It can be used for wet-on-wet painting and as a sandable filler. You can apply top coat over it without a separate primer.
The primer is suitable for aluminium, metal, galvanised sheet, stainless steel and old paintwork.
Properties
- Can be overcoated with water- and solvent-borne paints and with acrylic top coat
- Drying time before overcoating 10–15 minutes at 20 °C (wet-on-wet)
- Ready for sanding in approx. 3 hours
- Colour: light grey
- Plastic surfaces need a separate plastic primer
Before painting
Shake the can until you hear the ball moving. The ball may be stuck tight. If it does not start moving, tap the bottom of the can a few times against a table or wall and shake again.

Do I still need a primer under the top coat?
No. You can apply top coat over the epoxy primer without a separate primer.
How soon can I paint over it?
Wet-on-wet after approx. 10–15 minutes at 20 °C. The primer is ready for sanding in approx. 3 hours.
Is the epoxy primer suitable for plastic?
Not on its own. Plastic surfaces need a separate plastic primer.
Can I paint over it with water-borne paint?
