The flakes are solvent resistant, ultra-thin, and easy to level, making application smooth and the final result clean and professional.
Metal Flake Application & Use
Metal Flake can be mixed with:
Basic Application Steps:
-
Prepare the surface according to a standard paint process (sanding, priming, etc.)
-
Spray 2–3 coats of base colour
-
Add the Metal Flake to clear coat or another chosen binder
-
Spray the flake mixture until the desired effect is achieved. (Always perform a test spray first to determine the preferred flake/clear ratio.)
-
Once the flake layer is complete, apply 2K clear coat until the flakes are fully covered and a high-gloss finish is achieved
Tips for a Perfect Finish
-
Use a gravity-feed spray gun with a minimum 1.5 mm fluid nozzle
-
Apply several thin coats to avoid runs
-
Monitor the surface between coats – spraying too wet can ruin the final result
-
When the flake level is satisfactory, clean the spray gun thoroughly and apply clear coat without flake
-
To achieve a perfectly smooth surface:
-
allow the clear coat to fully cure
-
perform wet sanding only on a fully cured surface
-
preferably after 2–3 weeks (at approx. +20 °C painting conditions)
-
re-clear the surface following normal instructions
Note! Wet sanding must not be performed before the clear coat is fully cured.
