Troton Gripper T – durable polyester putty for demanding body repair

Troton Gripper T is a high-quality two-component polyester putty designed for demanding body repair and surface leveling applications. The product offers excellent adhesion to various substrates, such as steel, aluminum, galvanized surfaces, and fiberglass, making it a reliable choice for professional use and demanding DIY users.

The putty spreads evenly, effectively fills surface imperfections, and is easy to shape. Excellent sanding properties speed up the workflow and ensure a smooth, paint-ready surface. Gripper is especially suitable for areas requiring mechanical strength and secure adhesion to the substrate.

Substrates

The product has very good adhesion to various surfaces. It can be applied to the following substrates:

• Bare steel and aluminum after sanding and degreasing

• Galvanized steel after sanding and degreasing

• Sanded fiberglass (GFK/GRP), polyester putties, acrylic and epoxy primers, and existing coatings in good condition

Note: Do not apply the putty directly over acid etch primers, 1K acrylic products, or nitrocellulose-based products.

Layer thickness and working time

The putty should be applied in several thin coats, allowing each layer to cure before applying the next.
Maximum layer thickness: 3 mm.
Pot life: 4–6 minutes at +20 °C.

Curing

20–30 minutes at +20 °C.
Temperatures below +20 °C significantly increase the curing time.

Sanding

• Coarse sanding (dry): P100–P180

• Finishing sanding (dry): P180–P280

IR drying

5–7 minutes, max. 60 °C.
Wait approximately 5 minutes before IR drying.

After filling

Suitable for overcoating with:
2K polyester putties, 2K spray putties, 2K acrylic primers, and 2K epoxy primers.

Important notes

Excessive hardener may cause discoloration of the topcoat.
Use personal protective equipment, ensure good ventilation, and clean tools immediately after use.
