What is in the touch-up paint kit?

The touch-up paint kit contains primer, colour and clear coat. All colours are made from basecoat colour that is finished with clear coat for a better result. Each product comes in a bottle resembling a nail polish bottle, with a brush.

What is the touch-up paint kit for?

Small damage to the paintwork: you can easily make scratches, stone chips and other small damage disappear from view.

Note! The shade may differ from the original because the amount of paint is very small. Automaalit.net does not compensate for shade differences in touch-up paints. If you need a colour-accurate repair, we recommend a spray can or spray-gun paint. Ask our customer service for more information.

How to touch up your car's paintwork

1. Clean the area to be repaired, for example with Troton silicone remover.
2. Apply 1–2 coats of primer and wait approx. 2–5 minutes between coats. Let the primer dry for approx. 20 minutes before the colour coat.
3. Apply 2–3 coats of colour coat and wait approx. 2–5 minutes between coats. Avoid thick coats for a better result. Let the colour coat dry for approx. 20–30 minutes before the clear coat. Low temperatures extend the drying time.
4. Apply 2–3 coats of clear coat and wait approx. 2–5 minutes between coats.
5. If you wish, finish the repair with wet sanding and polishing at the earliest approx. one week after the repair.

Frequently asked questions about touch-up painting

How long does the clear coat take to dry?
The clear coat dries in approx. two hours. Full curing may take several days, but you can still use the car. Avoid washing it for the next two days.

Is the shade exactly the same as on the car?
The shade may differ because the amount of paint is small, and Automaalit.net does not compensate for shade differences in touch-up paints. For a colour-accurate repair, we recommend a spray can or spray-gun paint.

How many coats do I apply?
1–2 coats of primer, 2–3 coats of colour coat and 2–3 coats of clear coat.

When can I sand and polish the repair?
At the earliest approx. one week after the repair.
