What is Mipa Protector 2K Truck Bed Liner Spray?
Mipa Protector 2K Truck Bed Liner Spray is an extremely durable black two-component polyurethane-acrylic coating. It forms a tough, scratch- and impact-resistant protective surface, making it ideal for areas exposed to heavy wear and tear.
The truck bed liner is designed to protect pickup truck beds, luggage compartments, running boards, wheel arches and other surfaces exposed to heavy wear. It offers excellent resistance to mechanical stress and good resistance to water, oils, fuels and changing weather conditions. The coating also provides good UV protection and helps reduce noise.
The spray can allows easy application without separate spray equipment. The can contains a built-in hardener that is activated before use. By adjusting the spraying distance and technique, different surface textures can be achieved, ranging from a fine satin-matt finish to a coarser, heavily textured surface.
Where can the truck bed liner be used?
Mipa Protector 2K is suitable for a wide range of applications where a more durable protective coating than conventional topcoat paint is required.
- Pickup truck beds and loading surfaces
- Vehicle underbodies, frames and wheel arches
- Running boards, rocker panels and bull bars
- Camper and recreational vehicle floors and storage compartments
- Off-road vehicle body panels and wheels
- Roof racks, trailers and loading ramps
The coating is suitable for properly prepared and primed steel, aluminium, galvanised metal, wood, plastic and fibreglass surfaces, as well as sound existing paint finishes resistant to 2K coatings. It is not suitable for thermoplastic coatings.

How to apply Mipa Protector 2K Truck Bed Liner
-
Prepare the surface. Thoroughly remove grease, dirt and rust. Sand the surface using the appropriate abrasive grit for the substrate and apply a suitable primer where required. For example, P120 is recommended for steel, P220 for aluminium and P320 for existing paintwork. Metal and plastic surfaces must be primed with suitable products.
-
Activate the hardener. Shake the can vigorously for 1–2 minutes. Remove the red activation button from the cap, place it on the pin at the bottom of the can and press it down fully.
-
Mix thoroughly. Shake the can vigorously again to ensure that the hardener is properly mixed with the coating.
-
Apply the coating. Always perform a test spray to check the desired surface texture. Generally, apply two coats from a spraying distance of approximately 90–110 cm. By adjusting the spraying distance and coat thickness, you can control the texture of the finished surface.
-
Allow to dry. The flash-off time between coats is approximately 20 minutes at 20 °C. Remove masking tape immediately after painting and allow the coating to dry undisturbed.
Note! Once the hardener has been activated, the product must be used within approximately 1.5 hours. After spraying, turn the can upside down and spray briefly to clean the nozzle and prevent clogging. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment and ensure adequate ventilation.
Frequently asked questions about Mipa Protector Truck Bed Liner
What kind of finish does the truck bed liner create?
Mipa Protector creates a black, textured matt or satin-matt finish. The surface texture can be adjusted using different spraying techniques. You can achieve either a smoother, finely textured finish or a noticeably coarser protective coating.
Does the truck bed liner require a separate hardener?
No. The spray can already contains the hardener in a separate compartment. The hardener is activated at the bottom of the can just before painting.
How quickly does the truck bed liner dry?
At 20 °C, the surface is dust-dry in approximately 20–30 minutes and touch-dry in approximately 60–70 minutes. The coating is ready for assembly after approximately 24 hours.
Can the truck bed liner be applied directly to metal?
This is not recommended. Steel, aluminium and galvanised metal surfaces must be cleaned, sanded and primed with a suitable primer before applying the truck bed liner. This ensures good adhesion and a durable finish.
Is the truck bed liner suitable for vehicle underbodies?
Yes. Mipa Protector is also suitable for protecting vehicle underbodies, frames and wheel arches, provided that the surfaces have been properly prepared and the necessary corrosion protection has been applied.
How much area can one spray can cover?
The theoretical coverage of one 400 ml spray can is approximately 1.4 m². Actual coverage depends on the surface being coated, the applied film thickness and the desired texture.
Can the surface texture of the truck bed liner be adjusted?
Yes! The spraying technique directly affects the final result. Spraying from a distance of approximately 90 cm produces a finer, satin-matt finish. Increasing the distance to approximately 100–110 cm and applying lighter coats creates a coarser, matt texture. We always recommend performing a test spray before starting the actual application.
