Sanding Marks
Sanding marks from the substrate or primer become visible after the paint surface has dried.
Cause:
-
Incorrect primer preparation: insufficient filler or low-quality filler, as well as excessively coarse sandpaper.
-
Poor sanding tools or incorrect sanding technique.
-
Insufficient topcoat thickness.
-
Sanding without a sanding block on flat surfaces.
-
Excessively thick primer layer before the topcoat and insufficient drying time for the primer.
-
Incorrect preparation of the old paint surface.
Solution:
-
Sand with very fine sandpaper and then polish.
-
If the scratches are deep, sand off the paint and redo the process.
